DCeased #1 (CGC Graded 9.6) DC Comics July 2019 (First Edition) Newsstand Edition
$99.95
DCeased is a superhero horror comic book miniseries spanning the DC Universe where Cyborg’s body is used as a carrier for a technological virus of the Anti-Life Equation that turns the population into zombie-like creatures. It takes place on Earth 55.
One week earlier, the Justice League repelled an Apokolips invasion, fighting Parademons and Darkseid, who cryptically said he had no need to return, as he already got what he came for. Batman used a tracker on Cyborg to confirm he was nowhere in the galaxy. On Apokolips, Cyborg was tortured by DeSaad, who revealed that the Anti-Life Equation lived in his cybernetic body. They summoned the Black Racer to prevent Cyborg’s death as he transmitted the Anti-Life Equation, but Darkseid fell prey to its despair. DeSaad, immune, sent Cyborg back to Earth, and Darkseid exploded into the core of Apokolips. Cyborg landed in Metropolis, infecting the Internet with a viral Anti-Life Equation and enslaving everyone. Superman, at Big Barda and Mister Miracle’s, planned a rescue but heard screams. He found his son almost infected and destroyed the screens with heat vision. Superman promised to find his father, gather the League, and stop the hysteria. In the Batcave, Batman’s firewall shut off to avoid infection. He used a backup to see Gotham’s carnage. He estimated 600 million people were infected and billions were at risk. He disabled electronics with an EMP, but Nightwing and Red Robin were already infected. He told Alfred to run and fight his sidekicks.

Written by Tom Taylor, with pencils by Trevor Hairsine and James Harren, inks by Stefano Gaudiano, and colours by Rain Beredo
The storyline begins after the Justice League repels an invasion from Apokolips. Darkseid accidentally corrupts the Anti-Life Equation using Cyborg, turning it into a lethal techno-organic virus. Once unleashed on Earth via digital screens and social media, it instantly infects 600 million people, converting them into mindless, ultra-violent, zombie-like “Anti-Living” monsters
Because it is set outside the main DC continuity, the stakes are absolute, leading to the shocking infection and demise of major heroes, with heavy focus on the Bat-family right in the first issue
Due to its massive popularity, this issue was released with a vast array of collectible variants
