Matchbox 1971 Mod Rod No. 1 Superfast Series (Yellow with Red Wheels) Made in England by Lesney (Good Condition) 1:64 Scale
$79.95
Superfast has had at least two distinct meanings concerning Matchbox toys. Initially, it referred to the then-new type of low-friction wheels fitted to Matchbox range models from 1969. Later, the term was applied to a range of special edition models, given extra detail and fancier packaging. The 1971 Mod Rod was the first from this new series.
Superfast has had at least two distinct meanings concerning Matchbox toys. Initially, it referred to the then-new type of low-friction wheels fitted to Matchbox range models from 1969. This was the response by Lesney (the original producers of Matchbox toys) to models produced by a new rival, Hot Wheels. Later, the term was applied to a range of special edition models, given extra detail and fancier packaging. The 1971 Mod Rod was the first from this new series.
Grading note: This die-cast model exhibits signs of standard wear and tear consistent with its age (made in 1971). Wheels roll, but the axles are slightly bent, which causes the tyres to splay. Paint coverage is approximately 90%. There are no significant deep scratches or chipped paint. There is no physical damage or missing items/parts. The big cat decal on the bonnet is in good condition. The car is loose with no packaging.
