Star Wars #2 (Six Against The Galaxy) Hasbro Expanded Universe Dark Horse Comics May 2006 (near Mint)
$7.95
The issue opens with Obi-Wan Kenobi rescuing Luke from an attack by Tusken Raiders. Once safe in Kenobi’s hut, R2-D2 plays a holographic message from Princess Leia, pleading with Kenobi to deliver the droid’s secret data to Alderaan. Luke initially refuses to leave his aunt and uncle, but after returning to his farm to find it destroyed and his family killed by Imperial Stormtroopers, he commits to becoming a Jedi and joins Obi-Wan. The group travels to the spaceport of Mos Eisley. In the infamous cantina, they encounter Han Solo and Chewbacca. After a confrontation with Greedo (who notably speaks English in this version), they hire the duo to pilot them to Alderaan. The issue concludes with the group—Luke, Ben, the two droids, Han, and Chewie (the Six referenced in the title)—escaping Tatooine aboard the Millennium Falcon under fire from Imperial troops.
To celebrate the upcoming 30th Anniversary of Star Wars, Dark Horse and other publishers released various special edition-related materials and commemorative reprints of the 1977 Star Wars comics. This reproduction edition was part of the 2006 Hasbro Expanded Universe Comic Two-Packs series. It reproduces Star Wars #2, originally published by Marvel in August 1977.
